The most uncomfortable thing happening in my company right now…

I don’t even know how to explain this properly, but something has been happening in my company lately that just doesn’t sit right with me. And the worst part is… everyone sees it, but no one says anything. We have a few senior people who clearly treat employees differently based on where they’re from. It’s not obvious enough to call out directly, but it’s there in small ways. Who gets heard in meetings. Who gets opportunities. Who gets ignored. And once you start noticing it, you can’t unsee it. What makes it worse is that we’re in a place like the UAE, where literally everyone comes from different backgrounds. You’d expect fairness to be the baseline. But instead, it feels like there are invisible groups within the same office. People who are equally capable are treated very differently, and everyone just adjusts instead of questioning it. I’ve seen people stop speaking up, not because they don’t have ideas, but because they already know how it’s going to be received. And honestly, that’s the part that feels the most wrong. Not just what’s happening… but how normal it has become. I don’t know if this is something people just accept everywhere, or if I’m overthinking it. But it doesn’t feel right to stay quiet about something like this. Has anyone else experienced this kind of subtle bias at work?

Yeah… that kind of bias is hard to call out but easy to feel. When people start holding back because they already know the outcome, something’s clearly off. You’re not overthinking it — it just shouldn’t be normal.
