I am tired in a way sleep is not fixing

Here’s the part that actually makes me feel insane: I used to be good. Like, genuinely good at this. Now I stare at one email for 40 minutes. I open a doc, close it, open Instagram, feel disgusting, open the doc again. Everyone thinks burnout looks like crying in the bathroom. Nobody tells you it mostly looks like being slow and stupid at things that used to be easy, while quietly hating yourself for it. And the spiciest part? I did everything right. I said yes to everything. I was “so reliable.” I made myself the person who never drops the ball — and the reward for never dropping the ball is that they just keep throwing more balls. Being dependable at work is a trap. The prize for good work is more work, and the prize for burning out doing it is a performance conversation. I’m not quitting (yet, can’t afford to). I just needed to say this somewhere my coworkers can’t see. Is anyone else out here running on fumes and performing “fine” in every meeting? How do you get through the week when the tank has been empty for months — I genuinely want to know what’s working for you, because coffee stopped doing anything in like March.

A short reply is enough. People usually need to feel understood before they need advice.
