Relationship Anxiety Is Ruining My Life. How Do I Stop Needing Constant Reassurance?

0 support0 reactions0 replies
I know this might be a scream into the void, but I need to know if anyone has actually survived this. Can you actually grow past relationship anxiety, or am I just broken? Right now, it feels like it’s bordering on ruining my life and destroying any chance I have at a healthy future. I am trapped in this exhausting, constant loop. I judge the entire status of my relationship with my girlfriend based entirely on our most recent interaction. If a text feels slightly different, my brain immediately tells me it’s over. If she’s quiet for an hour, I start grieving the breakup before it even happens. The hardest part is the reassurance-seeking. I am trying so hard to fight the urge because I know it’s a burden to her. I know that every time I ask "Are we okay?" for the tenth time, I am actively damaging the relationship I’m trying to save. But resisting the urge feels like trying not to breathe. My brain convinces me every single second that this isn't going to last. If you’ve overcome this—whether it was therapy, practice, or something else—how did you do it? I just need to know there’s hope on the other side of this constant panic.

A short reply is enough. People usually need to feel understood before they need advice.
