One small mistake somehow became the only thing people remember

Work had been steady for months. Nothing exceptional, but nothing wrong either. Then one deliverable went sideways. It was fixed quickly, ownership was taken, and everything moved forward. Or at least it should have. Since then, something feels different. Questions carry a tone that wasn’t there before. Feedback feels less neutral. Even silence feels louder. Now even simple tasks come with this pressure to “prove” something that was never questioned earlier. Strange how one moment can quietly rewrite the story people have about you. Does that perception ever really reset, or does it just fade slowly over time?
