I think Indian middle-class people are mentally exhausted at this point

I genuinely think the Indian middle class is one bad month away from collective burnout. Everywhere I look, people are just stressed all the time now. Rent increasing. School fees increasing. Petrol increasing. Groceries increasing. EMIs increasing. But salaries somehow still feel emotionally stuck in 2018. And despite all this, society still expects people to maintain this image that everything is going well. You’re supposed to keep smiling at family functions. Keep attending weddings. Keep dressing properly. Keep pretending life is “settled.” Meanwhile half the people there are probably checking bank balances before ordering food online. What makes it worse is that middle-class Indians also carry huge emotional pressure. You can’t openly fail. You can’t openly struggle. You can’t openly say “I’m tired.” Because immediately someone else has it “worse.” So now everyone just silently carries stress while acting functional. I don’t even think people are chasing luxury anymore. Most people I know just want: stable income, mental peace, and one month where nothing financially stressful happens. That’s literally the dream now.
