My manager praises me in meetings… and ignores me when it matters

My manager always says good things about me in meetings. Stuff like “great work,” “reliable,” “we can count on them.” Sounds good, right? But when it actually matters — promotions, visibility, opportunities — I’m nowhere. Recently, a project I worked hard on was presented to leadership. My manager presented it. Didn’t mention my name once. Later, in a smaller meeting, they told me “you did great work.” And that just made it worse. Because appreciation without recognition doesn’t really help. Now I don’t know what to do. If I bring it up, I risk sounding insecure. If I stay quiet, I keep getting overlooked. Has anyone dealt with this kind of situation?
